Sony Alpha A9

Full-frame cameras are usually preferred by wildlife and sports photographers and considered as the target customers for these cameras. However, Sony has recently released a full-frame compact system camera for not just wildlife and sports photographers but also event photographers. Small, Light-weight and Easy to Carry

Whenever we think of DSLRs or typical full-frame cameras, we think of a big bulky body and a heavy camera. Mirrorless cameras are comparatively smaller than DSLRs but this latest full-frame camera is not only smaller and cheaper, it’s also quite fast. It weighs only 1.5 pounds and is about 5 x 3 7/8 x 2 ½ inches in size. Sony crammed things like 24.2-megapixel 35mm full-frame stacked CMOS sensor, BIONZ X processing engine, 693-point wide-area phase-detection AF and 5-axis image stabilization in such a small body. This thing is quite well built and solid even though it’s not as rugged as it’s competition. If you are looking for something less powerful and don’t want to spend too much money, there is the Sony A7 series. These are slightly less expensive compared to the Sony A9.

Full-frame 24.2-Megapixel Sensor

This is the first full-frame stacked CMOS sensor and it offers great performance even in low-light. Thanks to the five-axis image stabilization, users get great shutter speed advantage and the live-view monitor image also shows the stabilized version. Moreover, the Quad-VGA OLED Tru-Finder comes with Zeiss T Coating to reduce reflection and give users clear image with detail in the electric view finder. This full-frame pixel also leads to beautiful 4k imaging when capturing 4k videos. Continuous Shooting at High-speed

Users can capture full-resolution (24-megapixel) JPEGs at 20fps thanks to the Exmor RS CMOS sensor and BIONZ X processor. It gets easy to capture the decisive moment with fast AF/AE tracking and 4D focus. The phase-detection AF points can cover almost 93% of the image area with 693 AF points which makes it easy to keep your focus on subjects. The full-frame 24.2-megapixel sensor and wide dynamic range makes sure users get outstanding performance. This camera supports uncompressed 14-bit RAW format. There are two slots, one for both SD/Memory Stick cards and the other one is only for SD cards. Things we loved about the Sony A9:

• It’s cheaper and lighter compared to DSLRs
• It’s surprisingly fast and can capture 24-megapixel JPEGs at 20 frames per second
• The wide autofocus system is super-fast and accurate

Things we didn’t like about this camera:

• Battery life could’ve been better
• Only one of the dual memory card slots support UHS-II SD card
• Number of Sony FE lenses are limited at this point
